My Name Is Mangamma (Tamil: மை நேம் இஸ் மங்கம்மா) is a 2012-2013 Tamil languagecomedyromancesoap opera starring Maheswari, Aneesh Menon, Ram Mogan, Delhi Kumar, Mohan Raman, Ramachandran and Sonia. It is a remake of the Zee Telugu serial My Name is Mangatayaru.^[1] It aired on Zee Tamil from 9 April 2012 to 11 April 2013 on Monday through Friday 8:00PM (IST) for 260 episodes. Mixture of humor, seriousness and turns made this drama a big hit.^[2][3] The show is loosely based on the Korean drama My Lovely Sam Soon, due to several similar scenes and situations.

Plot[edit]

It was a charming story of a 28-year-old girl, who did not like her name 'Mangamma' (Maheswari). She was named by her parents but she did not acknowledge it and called herself 'Maggie'. She thought she was not getting married because of her name, but in reality she was impolite, tom boy and had a loud mouth. Mangamma had a job of chef in a 3-star hotel. She supported her mother, her younger married sister and a younger unmarried sister as well.

Maheswari is an Indian film actress, who has appeared predominantly in Telugu and in few Tamil language films. She is probably best known for her performances in Pelli (1997), Gulabi(1995), Karuththamma (1994) Ullaasam (1997).^[1]

Maheshwari was born into a Telugu speaking family to Mahesh Reddy and Suryakala.

Career[edit]

Maheswari won a Nandi Award for her performance in Nee Kosam (1997) and after appearing in Tirumala Tirupathi Venkatesa (2000), she quit the film industry. In 2008, she married software engineer Jayakrishna in Tirupati. She has since appeared in television for serials and pursued an alternate career as a fashion designer.^[2][3]
